ANNA M. BABBIT,
age 74, of Portage, Indiana Formerly Miller Beach, Indiana passed away
Friday, February 20, 2009. Anna retired as a switchboard operator from
U.S. Steel, Gary Works. She served in the United States Marine Corps
and was a member of the Howlin Mad Detachment, Marine Corps League.
Anna was a member of the Vivians of BPOE, Hobart Lodge #1152, the Red
Hat Society and a longtime member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic
Church in Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband William
Babbitt in 2008. Anna is survived by daughters, Kathy (Paul) Ciminillo
of Lake Station and Cher (Jim) Jones of Oklahoma; son, William (Ruth)
Babbitt, Jr. of California; and many grandchildren, great
grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at St. Mary of the Lake
Catholic Church, 6060 Miller Ave., Gary, IN, Rev. Thomas E. Mischler
officiating. Services were terminated at the church with cremation
following at the Burns Funeral Home Crematory. Friends were able to call at
Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart on Wednesday from 2-7 p.m.
Prayer service was at 2 p.m. There was also visitation at the church
Thursday from 9-10 a.m. | |
